It's nice to see the red kites tryin to breed in Wicklow. They laid three eggs but left them go cold. These are only two year old birds and as most raptors don't usually become fully sexually mature until three years old this is a very promising start to a very good project.
Tom
There have been 2 lots of kites released in wicklow so far.
Does anyone know if there are plans to release any more?
How many have survived?
Have any moved away from Wicklow?
Do they taste nice?
Thanks
I have heard that they taste somewhere between an osprey and a hen-harrier. It's been years since i ate a hen-harrier, ah I remember it now as if it was yesterday, the beer in the cooler, the hen-harrier slowly turning over the barbeque, the kids dipping their kestrel drumsticks in the spicy sauce, ah those halcyon days of summer!
I believe that another batch of kites is on the way from Wales.
